Solution 1: Analyze your hosting settings

Step 1: See your settings on your workstations

More than one of your workstations may be set as the server for QuickBooks. Your workstations must be in multi-user mode if your server (the computer that hosts your company files) should be the only computer that must be set to the host mode.


Check each workstation (the other computers joined to the network that doesn't host your company files) to confirm that the Host Multi-User Access option is off.


  • Open the QuickBooks on the workstations where you see H101, H303, or H505.

  • Open the File menu and flutter over Utilities.

  • If you find the Host Multi-User Access option, don't select it. Move on to the other workstation. This one isn't causing the problem.

  • If there will be the option of Stop Hosting Multi-User Access, select it.

Step 2: See your server settings

Go after the steps depending on your setup. If you hold the complete version of QuickBooks Desktop installed on your server. After checking all of your workstations, move on to your server computer and reset your hosting settings.

  • Open QuickBooks on your server computer.

  • Open the File menu and drift over Utilities.

  • If Host Multi-User Access is an option, choose it. Repeat this process and choose to Stop Hosting Multi-User Access. These reset multi-user mode.
